Blue Iris Painting Van Gogh Frame:Dark ash modern feel of a close-upThis is Van Gogh's celebrated garden of irises, a dense tangle of cobalt and violet blooms surging from sword like green leaves rendered in his unmistakable swirling strokes. A single ghostly white iris stands among its blue companions on the left, while a band of golden orange marigolds and tawny earth borders the top and foreground. The Post Impressionist energy is everywhere, in the rhythmic curving leaves and the thick, vibrant impasto of colour.
