David Gilmour – About Face (CD) Phil March 2023 and comprehensive liner notesReleased during a fractious period in Pink Floyd's history, just as tensions with Roger Waters were reaching a breaking point, About Face finds Gilmour stepping fully into his own voice, both literally and lyrically. The Townshend collaborations give the record a sharper, more confrontational edge than his 1978 debut, and Gilmour's guitar work throughout remains unmistakably his, that warm, unhurried tone cutting through the polished mid 80s
