Otis Redding – The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads (LP Vinyl) venue-brooklyn-bowl-philadelphia ” says WalterRecorded when Redding was just 23 years old, this debut long player captured a rawness and emotional depth that immediately set him apart from his contemporaries. Cut at Stax Studios in Memphis with Booker T. & the M. G.'s anchoring the sessions, it established the template for Southern soul that virtually every singer in the genre would spend the next decade chasing. This 1965 collection from The King of Soul is as fresh and urgent now as ever.
