with an edge of leather and gunflint

A really fine champagne with delicacy and pungent intrigue

but with very firm tannins

The nose opens with velvety whispers of dark chocolate and caramel before transitioning to ripe orchard fruits

2013 Charmes-Chambertin, Les Mazoyères, Grand Cru, Domaine de la Vougeraie, Burgundy Large Formats Ben Sichel is becoming recognisedMade from vines planted in 1902 and aged in 60% new wood with 60% whole bunch fermentation. It has a superbly ebullient nose with amazing dark fruit, tiny berries some blueberry and is very dense across the palate. It needs time, but this is a winner in 2013. Jasper Morris MW Wine Buyer
