Herring #6 wingmaterial mayfly Why Fluoro CarbonFly Type: This is a subsurface streamer and baitfish imitation. The fly is designed to mimic a herring, a key forage fish for many coastal predators. Best Suited For: An excellent fly for targeting a wide range of predatory fish that feed on herring. It's a go to pattern for sea trout, striped bass, cod, and mackerel. Best Time to Fish: This fly works well year round, but it's particularly effective when herring are present and actively being hunted.
