The D ALAP was a Lockheed L 1049H Super Constellation. The Super Constellation was a development of the L 749 Constellation. And also a successful response to the Douglas DC 6. It made its first flight in 1950. The first production ready L 1049 flew on July 14, 1951, operated by Eastern Air Lines on the New York Miami route.
