Capparis spinosa var. inermis Tree - under 20' dark green scaly foliageCaper Bush: Evergreen, sprawling, slow growing shrub 2 3' tall with large swollen roots and semi succulent heart shaped leaves with a bronze or reddish tinge when emerging. Flower buds (the edible caper) appear in late spring to summer. Delicately scented pinkish white flowers. Prefers a hot sunny location with little or no water. A simple rule of thumb is that the caper bush should be able to grow where an olive tree will grow. Seacoast tolerant
